Biospain 2023. How the world's largest biotechnology congress was organised

Bio Spain is one of the largest biotechnology events in the world by number of attendees. Held in September at Fira de Barcelona, it brought together the leaders of the biotechnology industry for three days, with more than 2,200 people, 81 investors, more than 260 exhibitors and 997 companies from 34 countries that held more than 60 round tables addressing the challenges of the sector, 5,000 one-to-one meetings and more than 30 startup presentations to investors.
To allow for all this intense activity, a custom-made space was created with more than 11,000 m2 of carpet, and 2,400 m2 of stands that exhibitors could reserve and design themselves through an online platform. 1,300 m2 of B2B booths were set up, three plenary rooms were built with a capacity to accommodate 500 people each and three breakout areas for 200 people each.
The day before the congress, a welcome reception was organised with more than 1,500 people. In total, a budget of more than 1.2 million euros was executed, with an enormous media impact in the press and networks (more than 20 media outlets attended the event) with an estimated communication value of more than 1.7 million euros.
